West Midlands Metro lift upgrades

The lifts at Bilston Central and Lodge Road stops on the West Midlands Metro network are being upgraded this summer which will see them out of action until September 2021. While Lodge Road has ramp access to the stop for any passengers who usually use Bilston Central they are being advised to use alternative stops during this work.

The work is said to be needed to make the lifts more reliable for passengers although will mean that there is disruption for passengers over this two month period.

For any passengers who usually travels to or from Bilston Central they are being advised that The Crescent is the closest tramstop with step-free access. West Midlands Metro tickets will be accepted for travel on the National Express bus service 79 between The Crescent and Bilston Central. There will also be a staff member on hand during the day to help passengers with steps at Bilston Central when possible.

Meanwhile, for anyone travelling to or from Lodge Road they are being advised of the access to the stop via ramps from the Lodge Road and Victoria Street entrances.

The work commenced from 7th July and will continue to September.
