Edinburgh City Centre worksite to extend to West Maitland Street

The City of Edinburgh Council have now confirmed that the city centre worksite will be extended to include West Maitland Street from Saturday 24th March. Previously it had been revealed that this would be happening sometime in March but no exact date had actually been given. Preparation work for the diversion of traffic from West Maitland Street has already begun to enable this to be up and running for the start of the work.

During the works on West Maitland Street new traffic diversions will be put into place which will see two way traffic introduced between Palmerston Place and Torphichen Street and through Dalry Road and Morrison Street. The one-way system will be reversed to a northbound traffic flow together with a gyratory traffic system affecting Rothesay Place/Manor Place. Finally the one-way traffic system on Grosvenor Crescent/Landsdowne Crescent will be reversed.

The worksite in the City Centre now includes Shandwick Place, Haymarket and West Maitland Street with the latest traffic diversions likely to be in place until autumn 2013.
