Seaton Tramway announce plans to reopen 12th April

The Seaton Tramway in Devon are planning to reopen from Monday 12th April, subject to the lifting of government imposed restrictions. This is the second heritage tramway to confirm their plans for 2021 and will initially see a 30 minute frequency tram service between Seaton and Colyton.

The successful Covid safe response which was put into place for 2020 will continue from 12th April which will see a strict restriction in passenger numbers on board each tram with hand sanitising stations provided at all entrances and exits and the rule of 6 will also be in place until at least 21st June. Unless exempt masks must be worn on board the trams and while in interior areas at the tramway.

From Monday 12th April trams will run every 30 minutes from Seaton to Colyton between 1000 and 1700.

2021 sees the tramway continuing to celebrate their 50th year of operation and new offers to the experience of visiting the tramway should be added as the year progresses. This will include the opening of two new stops at Riverside Halt and Wetlands Halt which both of these hoped to be open by the summer. In addition there will be the installation of new interpretation across the tramway and for families there will be Gilbert’s Trail with a 14 page booklet available full of activities, information and a stamp hunt.

All events up until at least 21st June have been cancelled but it is still hoped for some passengers to be carried during the previously announced 24 Hour Tramathon. Taking place on 5th and 6th June this will be a chance to see the tramway at its best as the centrepiece of the major fundraising campaign with the tramway having lost a large amount of its income since the start of the pandemic. Plans are currently being finalised for this event and more details will be announced in due course. Donations to the fundraiser can be made via the Seaton Tramway website with more details at http://www.tram.co.uk/Tramathon.

You can book tickets for the Seaton Tramway online now and this includes the HERO TICKET which can be purchased for use at any time once the tramway reopens through until 31st December 2021.
