Lockdown Walks: Manchester Metrolink 3031

Chorlton on Manchester Metrolink’s lines to East Didsbury and Manchester Airport is again the location as we head out on another “Lockdown Walk”.

At the time of this photo services were running every 12 minutes on all lines, which meant that Chorlton was one of the lucky stops getting trams every 6 minutes for most of the day being served by both trams between East Didsbury and Rochdale Town Centre and from Manchester Airport to Victoria. Whilst not the same service level it saw before the pandemic it still gave a good opportunity for essential travel whilst social distancing, especially towards Manchester City Centre.

This is 3031 as the back unit of a double tram which has just departed Chorlton and is now on the way to Rochdale via Exchange Square. (Photograph by Keith Chadbourne, 2nd June 2020)
