Picture in Time: Sheffield 74

For the next few weeks our Traditional Tram edition of “Picture in Time” will be heading back a few short years to 2011 for some images taken at the Crich Tramway Village. We start off with Sheffield 74.

This photo shows Crich at a time when trackwork at the Town End terminus meant that services were temporarily curtailed outside The Red Lion, necessitating some single line working between there are the depot crossover. In this image we see Sheffield 74 outside the pub with trolley turned and ready to head back up the line to Glory Mine. The worksite where the track was being renewed can also be seen in this view with it protected by fencing and quite a hefty looking crane in evidence too. The date is 25th May 2011 and despite the disruption it seems as if its quite a busy day at Crich judging by the number of people milling around.
