Who wants to hear a song on London Tramlink?

Eccentronic, described as a musical comedy duo from Croydon, have recently unveiled their latest creation – a song on their home town’s tram system. Entitled “Croydon Tram” the song comes in at just short of three minutes and to be honest words fail me and I don’t think there is much more I can write in this article about it! If anyone wants to listen to the song and view the video you can find it on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_cwmLYuJOU&feature=player_embedded.

  1. Nigel Pennick says:

There are not many songs about trams – I remember one from a folk singer about the Sheffield trams some years ago, so this is a welcome addition to the repertoire.

  2. David Taylor says:

    Three questions:
    1. If it is so much fun on the Croydon TRAM TRAM TRAM why are they not smiling?
    2. Why were the trams running wrong road?
    3. Who dressed them?

  3. Dan Clarke says:

The Tyne And Wear Metro Did A Musicalm For Their 30th Birthday In 2011 And I Wasn’t Too Keen On It. The Metro Funded That One Themselfs And They Had Public Auditions To Choose Who Would Be In It. Did Tramlink Fund This Themselfs Or Did Eccentronic Just Turn Up One Day To Film.

  4. Deckerman says:

There’s a similarly comic song also available on Youtube, by Blackpool based band Kazoobian, which is called “South Shore”, which whilst not focusing mainly on the trams, does both mention them and briefly show the odd Flexity. Ok, it’s possibly not as good tram wise, as this one, which is MAD, but it’s perhaps worth a look.

But, be warned, they are renowned for their more er.. creative… language/ vocals. But vicars and minors apart, may you enjoy!

Thanks for sharing our Croydon Tram video!

In answer to your questions, David:

    1. If it is so much fun on the Croydon TRAM TRAM TRAM why are they not smiling?

It’s a sort of tribute to 1970s krautrock band Kraftwerk and their song “Autobahn” which is very serious! But yes we love the Tram really!

    2. Why were the trams running wrong road?

    It’s a mixed up sign?

    3. Who dressed them?

Clothes are models’ own. We’ve had a lot of interest in the green ties and are thinking of merchandising them.

    Dan:
Did Tramlink Fund This Themselfs Or Did Eccentronic Just Turn Up One Day To Film?

As the disclaimer on video says, it’s not an official TFL video! We did just do it ourselves. We also have a song about the London Underground so watch this space for a possible video of that!
