Picture in Time: Blackpool Boat 606 & 600

We are going back to warm, sunny days on Blackpool Prom for today’s “Picture in Time” as we feature a double dose of Boat Cars in action.

This photo was taken during 1998 on a warm summers day and has been captured from on board one of two Boats passing as they go their respective way on the Promenade. We are on board 606 – which was carrying a Yellow and Blue livery at the time – which is working southbound to Pleasure Beach whilst the northbound track is taken by fellow Boat Car, 600 which is working a short Promenade special to Talbot Square. Both trams seem fairly full.

Warm sunny days as they should be spent!

Looking at the deep windscreens, I think that may be 600 rather than 605.

You know, I kept yo-yoing between the two as I wasn’t 100% sure. It would appear I yinged when I should have yanged! Duly corrected the article now. Thanks for the correction.

  2. Nev S says:

I dithered for a long time too Gareth, switching back and forth between several of my own photos of the two cars.
