NET delays after smoke comes from brakes

Services on Nottingham Express Transit between Wilkinson Street and The Forest were temporarily suspended on Monday 13th January after smoke was seen coming from the brakes on a tram which required the local fire service to attend.

The tram – one of the unrefurbished Bombardier Incentros – was at the junction between the mainline and the tracks leading to the depot when it was brought to a halt with smoke seen coming from below the tram. It transpired that this was from the brakes and the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service released a statement confirming that crews isolated the electrics and used one hose reel jet to cool the brakes and put out the fire.

No trams ran between Wilkinson Street and The Forest for around a hour late morning on Monday 13th January.
