New zonal short-hop fares, January bargains and some increases for NET

Monday 6th January 2020 will see a revised fares structure introduced on Nottingham Express Transit which will include the expansion of the short-hop fares to a new zonal system. At the same time there will be some increases to cash fares whilst the January sales will be extended to the tram on NET as there will be offers on some tickets.

The new zonal system will see nine zones introduced with a £1 short-hop ticket available for any journey between any two stops within the zones. The zones are Hucknall, Bulwell, Hyson Green, City Centre, Queens Medical Centre, Wilford, Beeston, Clifton and Bramcote. You can see the full zonal map on this page.

The new short-hop fares are part of the annual fares review which will also see some rises in cash fares. Adult single tickets purchased through the ticket machines at each stop will go up to £2.40 from £2.30 with an all day ticket now going up to £4.20 (was £4.00). A weekly pass will also rise by 50p to £18.50.

But whilst there have been some increases from 1st January there will also be some bargains to be had in the NET January sale with season tickets available for cheaper price throughout the month. A three month adult pass will cost £145 (saving of £15) and a one month adult pass will be £50 (usually £55). The biggest saving though will be on the Annual pass which will cost just £475 – a saving a £50.

Rebekah Smith, NET Marketing Manager, said: “The tram still offers fantastic value and these slight increases bring us into line with other transport operators in the city. By switching to paying for travel using our NETGO! mobile app rather than at the tram stop, customers can still enjoy savings on their ticket, while our new short hop zones offer great value for money for anyone who needs a swift and convenient ride between a couple of stops.”
