Picture in Time: Blackpool Brush 627 and more

Another trip to Blackpool’s Rigby Road Depot in the 1970s for today’s Picture in Time image as we take a look at some trams not required for service on this day.

Centre of this view is (we think – the image isn’t 100% clear but the fleet number can just about be made out!) Brush Car 627 which is carrying the traditional Green and Cream livery which at this time was in the half green/half cream style. The tram carries Corporation crests on each saloon exterior with the fleet number just above these. It also has roof advert boards and is blinded for a service to Tower. This tram remains in existence today and is in fact stored back at Rigby Road but owned by the Fleetwood Heritage Leisure Trust following periods of display at Pleasure Beach.

There are numerous other trams in this image with three Balloons on the left, another Brush behind 627 whilst on the right we see an OMO Car in the Red and Cream second livery. It looks as if this is no. 1 which dates this image to 1975 or later.
