More trackwork on the way in Croydon

There will be a revised service running on London Tramlink between Friday 23rd August and Sunday 1st September as further track and other infrastructure works take place on the network. During this period trams will only run between Wimbledon and East Croydon with no service to New Addington, Elmers End or Beckenham Junction.

During this period the main work will be concentrated on Chepstow Road where new rail will be installed but there will also be plenty of other worksites making the most of the quieter period at the end of the summer holidays. This will include waterproofing on Addiscombe Road Bridge, lighting maintenance in Sandilands tunnel, demolition work at Blackhorse Lane Bridge, more track renewal; this time between Lower Addiscombe Road and Woodside tramstop and electrical upgrade works at the substation along Oaks Road.

A reduced tram service will run from Wimbledon to East Croydon (and back) with bus route 466 diverted to serve tramstops in the closed section and act as a tram replacement between Addington Village and central Croydon via Coombe Lane. There will also be a shuttle bus from Addington Village to New Addington. For passengers wishing to travel to Beckenham Junction and Elmers End there will be a replacement bus to and from Woodside.
