More summer illuminated trams in Blackpool

The summer of the illuminated tram in Blackpool is continuing with another planned evening of operation now announced but this time the Western Train will be joined by the Frigate and some of the illuminations will also be switched on as part of the Run the Lights event. Both trams are scheduled to be running on Saturday 17th August for around four hours from just after 1730 and heritage travelcards will be valid along with pay on board fares.

The trams are due to run the “old school” illumination tour route starting off from North Pier/Tower and running north to Little Bispham before returning all the way to Pleasure Beach and then back to North Pier/Tower again. Both trams should run this journey three times over the course of the evening:

The Western Train is scheduled to depart North Pier Tower at 1742, 1902 and 2010 with the Frigate at 1822, 1930 and 2040. Each round-trip should be back at North Pier/Tower just over an hour later.

Round-trip tickets are available costing £6 for adults, £3 for children and heritage travelcards will also be valid.

This is another example of Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours trying something a bit different and with the illuminated feature cars proving popular with the public hopefully they will also enjoy a ride on a fine summer’s evening!
