Flooding causes problems in Edinburgh

It is June isn’t it? You know, one of the summer months! It seems that the weather isn’t aware of that at the moment as heavy rain in Edinburgh caused major transport delays including a temporary service suspension of Edinburgh Trams during the afternoon of Monday 24th June.

The worst area for flooding was around the tramstop at Bankhead with photos released by Edinburgh Trams on social media showing deep standing water well above the rail height preventing trams from running through the area. In all tram services were suspended for around an hour and a half from 1520 with resumption possible just in time for the evening rush hour albeit with delays.

Flooding was also affecting roads around the region with users of Park and Ride sites on the network warned of delays getting to and from the tram because of heavy traffic.
