Tramlink strike to go-ahead after talks break-down

London Tramlink services are likely to be severely disrupted on Thursday 28th March after talks at ACAS between ASLEF and FirstTram Operations ended without agreement. A recent ballot of ASLEF members on Tramlink found an overwhelming majority in favour of taking strike action over the latest pay deal.

A pay offer of 3.2% over each of the next three years was declined by ASLEF as this didn’t meet their expectations with a desire to level their pay with that of other similar jobs on other modes within Transport for London. ASLEF claim that despite six months of talks “management are not prepared to make an offer that recognises that our members do a difficult and stressful job and deserves to be properly rewarded.”

Details of what – if any service – will operate on Tramlink have yet to be announced by Transport for London.
