Track deliveries commence in Nottingham

The first pieces of tram track for the extensions of Nottingham Express Transit are now starting to be delivered to the City as progress continues on constructing phase two which
will see Beeston, Chilwell and Clifton joining the successful network.

The track will be delivered to Wilkinson Street Depot over the next six weeks and  Nottingham Express Transit are warning passengers that there may be some disruption during the deliveries.

Florian Le Loroux, Marketing Manager for NET, said: “We expect daily deliveries of track laying materials to the Wilkinson Street tram depot for the next six weeks and every effort will be made to ensure access to and from the car park will be maintained. Although the
deliveries will be made during off-peak hours, due to the size of the vehicles involved there may be short delays for people wanting to get on or off the site. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Earlier this month the first trackbed foundations were laid near to the Toton Park and Ride site. The two new lines are due to open by the end of 2014.
