Improved service for West Midlands Metro on Bank Holiday

Usually when a Bank Holiday arrives most tramways announce how they will be running a Sunday timetable – except for Blackpool where Bank Holidays are just another day! – but that situation has change on West Midlands Metro where it has been announced trams will run every 10 minutes for most of the day instead of the usual 15 minute Sunday frequency.

Although not a full weekday timetable (mind you at periods earlier in the summer it was as good as it got!) it is a pleasing improvement for tram services on Monday 27th August with trams every 10 minutes from Grand Central to Wolverhampton St George’s from 0800 to 1900.

The Fab Five ticket – where up to five adults or two adults and up to four children can travel together for just £5 all day – is also available on the day; able to be purchased from the on board conductors.

Carl Williams, West Midlands Metro Director of Operations, said: “Traditionally on bank holidays the tram operates to a Sunday timetable, with services every 15 minutes. As this will be the last public holiday of what’s been a fantastic summer, we’ll be running additional trams to help people get out and about during the break. Whether they a planning a shopping trip, travelling to a special event or just visiting family or friends, by taking the tram, our customers can enjoy a swift and convenient journey that’ll beat the bank holiday traffic.”
