Special trams to Pedal for Scotland

Edinburgh Trams will be running bike only trams for special ticket holders attending the Pedal for Scotland event at the Royal Highland Centre. A pre-purchased “Tram Transport” wristband will allow cyclists to get to the centre of the event with special morning non-stop trams running between Haymarket and Ingliston Park and Ride.

The event – now in its 19th year – takes place on Sunday 10th September and although the Royal Highland Centre is where the heart of the action is there are also two cycle routes between Edinburgh and Glasgow, one at 45 miles and the other at 93 miles.

Non-stop trams will run between 0400 and 0630 approximately every half hour and these will only be available to holders of the pre-booked wrist bands. Unlike normal Edinburgh Trams services there will not be a limit of two bikes per special service. A dedicated return service will then run between 1100 and 1800.

  1. Nigel Pennick says:

At least they are not closing public transport in Edinburgh for a day to allow cyclists to race round the city, as happens frequently elsewhere.
