In Pictures: Sheffield Tram-Train project update

Despite the recent revelations about how much the Sheffield Tram-Train project has gone over budget and how close it came to be being abandoned work is still progressing at its rather sedate pace ahead of services starting in mid-2018. In this latest pictorial update from Glyn Hill we take a look at recent progress.

A new signal has now been installed on the chord line protecting this where it joins the freight line.

New overhead masts have not been erected on the chord line.

Another look at the new signal.

A Meadowhall to Middlewood service passes the chord junction. (All Photographs by Glyn Hill)

Elsewhere Bridge Street bridge in Rotherham has almost been completed and work looks as if it is about to commence on constructing the platforms at Rotherham Central.

  1. Nigel Pennick says:

Opening in a year’s time from now means they will have to get their skates on if the last years’ rate of progress is anything to go by. I wonder what odds the bookmakers would give on it?

  2. Kevin says:

Its pushing it considering the vehicles haven’t turned a wheel in service yet.
