Picture in Time: Docklands Light Railway 79

Another trip into the archives and this time we are in London for an image coming from the Docklands Light Railway.

This is 79 which is one of the B92 class of train built for the Docklands Light Railway between 1992 and 1995 by BN Construction (later to become part of Bombardier) in Brugge, Belgium. When originally delivered to the UK these units were in the blue, red and white livery style of the time but by the time this photo was taken on 11th May 2008 it had received the more attractive red based livery with blue “river” along with grey doors.

This photo shows 79 running as part of a double unit as it stops at Poplar, home to one of two depots on the DLR and a station which also enjoys four platforms with interchange between several lines possible here.
