Picture in Time: Nottingham Express Transit 206

We head off to Nottingham for today’s instalment of Picture in Time with an image coming from 2007 of one of the original Incentro trams in the original livery. It is no. 206.

The Incentro trams were built by Bombardier with final assembly taking place at that firm’s Derby works. They are, to date, the only modern trams for the UK actually built within the UK and the 15 strong fleet was also the largest home built fleet since Blackpool’s Coronation cars in the 1950s. Delivery of the trams started in October 2002 (with 202) and the remaining trams arrived during the remainder of 2002 and in 2003.

In this view we see 206 at the old Station Street terminus on 29th August 2007. The tram is carrying the original house colours of Dark Green, Black and Silver. One feature of the fleet almost since inception has been the extensive carrying of adverts including the centre car carrying full height vinyls.
