Blackpool’s anniversary weekend expands

A late addition to the planned events for Blackpool’s tramway anniversary spectacular event, is a day of extra heritage tram operation on Friday 23rd September. A two-car heritage service will operate between Pleasure Beach and Tower/North Pier every twenty minutes from 1400 to 1800. As usual, illumination tours will also run during the evening and heritage day tickets will be valid on both day and night tours, representing superb value for money.

Not much extra information has yet been given about the actual weekend itself, although of course we do know that an intensive heritage tram service will operate on both Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th September. Additional attractions such as pre-booked guided tours of both Rigby Road and Starr Gate depots, free vintage bus trips and displays of non-operational trams on Blundell Street will make this another weekend to remember. It is expected that crews will rotate between trams on both days to ensure that all of the active heritage fleet can appear, meaning that it will not be possible to confirm which trams will work which journeys. However, for sheer spectacle this will no doubt be a fantastic event and British Trams Online will provide live coverage on our Facebook page across the weekend.

It will be launched in mid October with a Private midweek tour for the Lofthouse Family and staff – I know the date but am not allowed to say! Think the first Public tour will be the following Saturday.
