A couple of days ago we belatedly reported on the return of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway for 2016 and now with thanks to the Friends of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway we can bring you a pictorial update of their return.

Cars No.44 and No.45 at Derby Castle (Strathallan) before the start of services on 30th April. Both trams were in use throughout the day.

Left to right: - Ian Longworth (Director of Public Transport), Mrs Kate Beecroft (MHK With Responsibility for Public Transport) and Michael Crellin (Stable Foreman).

Douglas was chosen to operate the first service of the Isle of Man Railways era.

Would it not be a good idea for British Trams On-line to highlight and publicise the campaigns of the two Island based organisations who are actively attempting to save the Douglas Horse Tramway? They both need all the support they can get if this unique tramway is to survive intact.

are both opposed to cutting the line back to the Sefton Hotel. Please lend your support.
When we get time we will be running an article on the subject – it’s just unfortunate that at the moment I don’t have a huge amount of spare time but when I do we will be lending our support.
Gareth- thank you for your response. Time is running short as it is common knowledge that the application which includes terminating the tramway at the Sefton Hotel is due to be discussed at the next meeting of the IoM Planning Committee on 23rd May. Perhaps you would consider making note of this for those who visit British Trams On-line, making them aware of the urgency of the situation. The support of those who are not Manx residents is *****VITAL*****
