Trams run on Tuesdays at Heaton Park

Earlier this week, Blackpool Transport began operating their popular heritage tram coastal tours seven days a week, but they are not the only tramway to have commenced a midweek vintage tram service for the peak summer period. In an unexpected but very welcome move, the Heaton Park Tramway are now running a tram service every Tuesday during the school summer holidays.

For a while now, a good number of volunteers have been present at the park on most Tuesdays carrying out a variety of tasks. Now, it has been decided to utilise these people even more, by operating a basic service so that the public can sample a ride on a historic tram on a weekday. Hopefully, if the weather is kind over the next few weeks, this will be a profitable venture as this tramway is in desperate need of all the funding it can get right now, as plans to build a new depot and expand the operating fleet on site progress.

Having started the new Tuesday operation on 24th July, trams will operate again on 31st July, and should then be in service every Tuesday throughout August.
