Jobs advertised for NET Phase Two construction

No sooner had final sign off for phase two of Nottingham Express Transit been confirmed then the first jobs for the construction of the new lines to Clifton and Chilwell were being advertised. The 70 new jobs are being recruited through Nottingham City Council’s Employer Hub which matches the needs of recruiters to the skills of local unemployed people.

Part of the aim of the Tramlink Nottingham consortium is that many of the jobs created by phase two will go to local people and firms. Speaking about the launch of recruitment, Cllr Jon Collins, Council leader and portfolio holder for Training, Employment and HR, said: “NET Phase Two will generate construction work opportunities for local companies and people, as well as stimulating the local economy to generate long term employment growth. In a time of such economic constraints and few job opportunities, it is great to be advertising such a large quantity of jobs so soon after getting the final permission to
build the two new tram lines. The NET Phase Two project will boost the local economy, and these jobs represent the start of the economic growth, inward investments and regeneration which we know building new tram lines brings.”

The range of jobs currently being advertised include:

Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors

Engineers and Planning Engineers

Traffic Management Coordinators

Community Liaison Managers

Office Assistants

Reception staff

Site Foremen and General Foremen

Design Managers

Quality Managers

Training and Research Managers

Land, Stakeholder and Consents Managers
