In Pictures: Supertram rail replacement works continue

Stagecoach Supertram’s rail replacement works are starting to come towards a close with 90% of the work now completed. All rail replacement work is due to be finished before the end of August and during the first week of the month attention turned to White Lane with Birley Lane the latest stop to become a temporary terminus. These photos from Stuart Cooke show both the work underway to replace the track and also some unusual moves from the trams.

122 uses the little used crossover at Birley Lane on 4th August 2015.

122 continues over the crossover with 120 seen in the background, which was stabled as a spare.

Work on the outbound track on White Lane just beyond Gleadless Townend. This is obviously a tricky job judging by the number of supervisors required!

Another view of the rail replacement works with this section awaiting the new rails.

More work in evidence here. (All Photographs by Stuart Cooke)

  1. Tom Irvin says:

The Supertram website is quoting Gleadless Townend as the temporary terminus, see http://www.supertram.com/rr2015p8.html

Clearly this is not the case. Will it be Birley Road for the remainder of the works, ie until 28th August?
