All services through Deansgate-Castlefield are now using the island platform following the completion of the latest stage of transformation works at the stop. The first outbound services to use the island platform were on Wednesday 17th December – as planned – with the previous outbound platform now closed to passengers as transformation works are moved to complete the major works at this stop. For the next few months city bound services will use the outer face of the island platform and the outbound services will stop at the inner face (which was previously used by city bound journeys).
Speaking about the latest work at Deansgate-Castlefield, Cllr Andrew Fender, Chair of the Transport for Greater Manchester Committee, said: “The new stop is looking really impressive and it’s clear just what a great new facility passengers will enjoy when the transformation is completed. Deansgate-Castlefield is one of the most popular stops on the network and soon it will be one of the greenest, with a great new look. With three tram lines now going through the stop, we’ll ultimately see much more frequent, reliable services running through the city, with a turn-back offering greater operational flexibility that will greatly benefit passengers. It is essential that this capability is installed before the major works at St Peter’s Square get under way next summer. I’m now looking forward to seeing the dated Exhibition footbridge to the railway station completely modernised so it can offer a first class direct link for Metrolink and rail passengers.”
I think that tram going to Ashton is acctually 3074, not 3024.
Erik yes you are right. My mistake.
