In Pictures: London Tramlink double-tracking & Stadler runs on line 3

The latest double tracking project on the Wimbledon branch of London Tramlink was completed last month and trams are now able to use this section between Beddington Lane and the flyover at Mitcham Junction. This now allows more operational flexibility on the line and is the latest project on this line with major work due to start at the Wimbledon terminus in 2015. With thanks to Tony Sullivan for the photos.

A scene at Beddington Lane on 8th December shows 2542 working away from the stop (despite the destination screen it was in service!) as 2546 approaches with a service for New Addington. In the distance can be seen the single line leading down from the flyover.

Also on 8th December one of the Stadler Variotrams escaped onto line 3 working. Here is 2555 approaching Addington Village bound for New Addington. (Both Photos: Tony Sullivan)
