Wi-Fi now available across Edinburgh Trams fleet

After a trial involving three of the trams in Edinburgh it has been announced that all 27 of the vehicles are now fitted with Wi-Fi. All passengers on board the trams will now be able to use the Wi-Fi for free, subject to terms and conditions.

Ian Craig, Chief Executive, Transport for Edinburgh, said: “This is a further step towards making the entire Transport for Edinburgh fleet Wi-Fi enabled, something that passengers really wanted to see. Our customers can now check their social media feeds and emails or find out when they can catch their connecting bus, while on the move, for free. With all trams now successfully kitted out we have reached a major milestone in our project. We are looking forward to getting the whole bus fleet completed by the end of 2014.”

The trams have been fitted with the latest mobile hotspot technology offering a fast and robust 4G connection throughout the line between York Place and the Airport.
