Numbers 9 – Seaton Tramway 9

Off to the Seaton Tramway for today’s “Numbers”.

The Seaton Tramway is a unique 2’9” gauge system which runs for around three miles between Seaton and Colyton, mainly on a former railway line which was closed following the Beeching cuts. First running in 1970 it is now firmly established as a major tourist attraction in the region. Many of its trams are purpose built with the turn of the century seeing three larger open toppers built by Bolton Trams Ltd. The first of these was 9 which is seen here as it arrives at Colyton with another service from Seaton. This tram saw a partial rebuilt in 2023 when it received doors on the lower saloon (an area which is wheelchair accessible). The tram was seen on 1st July 2024.
