This year’s engineering works on the South Yorkshire Supertram network aren’t over just yet with a further six days announced for the forthcoming school October half-term holidays. Both the Blue and Yellow routes will be impacted by the works which be taking place at Infirmary Road.
Starting on Sunday 26th October and continuing for six days until the end of Friday 31st October, Supertram will be completing track renewal works at Infirmary Road tramstop with the aim of making journeys smoother and ensuring the continued reliability of services.
During the works the following services will run:
- BLUE – Halfway to Shalesmoor
- YELLOW – Middlewood to Cathedral
- PURPLE – normal service: Herdings Park to Cathedral
- TRAM-TRAIN – normal service: Rotherham Parkgate to Cathedral
Two replacement bus services will operate:
- BL1 – Shalesmoor to Malin Bridge
- YE1 – Cathedral to Middlewood
Normal tram services should resume from the start of Saturday 1st November 2025.
The works are part of a continued investment programme from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. They have committed to investing over £110m by 2027, this includes upgrades to the trams, track, control systems and power supplies alongside the construction of a new tram-train stop at Magna.
During the summer works which were completed include:
- Track renewal on Ridgeway Road
- Track renewal on Norfolk Park viaduct
- Rail sealing polymer replacement near Park Grange tramstop
- Poster case upgrades
Yellow route should be Meadowhall to Cathedral.
