The time is almost here as Oasis comeback tour returns home with a series of concerts taking place at Heaton Park. And as well as a special transport plan in place by TfGM, there will be a series of four announcements recorded by Liam Gallagher which will be heard at Heaton Park.
Oasis perform at Heaton Park on Friday 11th, Saturday 12th, Wednesday 16th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July. On all days a special service will be running on Metrolink which includes:
- Trams running from Victoria to Bury (using doubles)
- The usual Altrincham service will be diverted to and terminate at Exchange Square.
- No trams run between Exchange Square and Victoria with the East Didsbury-Rochdale service (as well as the peak Shaw service) running via Market Street and Shudehill
- Trams from Manchester Airport and The Trafford Centre will run to Deansgate-Castlefield
- Trams from Eccles terminate at Cornbrook.
To add to the event, there will also be a series of four announcement recorded by Liam Gallagher playing at Heaton Park. Fans are being encouraged to listen out for each of the messages as they make their way to the concerts.
This isn’t the first time that Liam’s voice has been heard on Metrolink announcements. In 2023 he recorded next stop announcements on the Ashton line in support of Beyond the Music (a festival and change-making conference that put the spotlight on new music, grassroots venues and developing talent and infrastructure support in Greater Manchester and beyond.
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, said: “We’ve not got long to wait now until our city-region hosts the most eagerly awaited homecoming of all time and the excitement is already building here in Greater Manchester.
“It’s brilliant that Liam is lending his legendary vocals to the Bee Network once again and I’d urge everyone to listen out for them when getting off the tram at Heaton Park for the gigs.
“We want everyone who’s going to have the time of their lives and I’d just like to remind everyone that the best way to get to Heaton Park and back is to take advantage of the public transport options available, as backed by the band themselves.”
