As we’ve seen before Blackpool Balloon 708 is now in a secure home at the Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft where it is to be used as a children’s play tram as the museum attempts to provide more activities for visiting families. Whilst work on this conversion has not yet started in earnest it will should not be too far off with it started to get surrounded by other developments at Sandtoft.
The location of 708 – which has been in Lincolnshire since November 2023 – is passed by a new miniature railway route and it was always the intention that the construction of this line would precede any major work on the tram. With the line now in place further work is needed on constructing a path leading to the tram and after that it should be all systems go on internal work for the tram which will see it used by the future generation to have a good time when visiting the museum.
