Stop by Stop London Trams: New Addington line – Addington Village

Onwards we go to the next stop on the New Addington line of London Trams as we continue to make our way towards Croydon.

We leave Fieldway and on the right (in direction of travel) we pass Addington Fire Station and New Addington Ambulance Station. The tramway is still on a reserved section running alongside Lodge Lane with a secluded footpath the other side of the tracks. The tram can accelerate its way along this section with one side being fairly rural in nature. The line curves to left as we make the approach to Addington Village.

Addington Village is a major interchange with local bus services with a bus station located immediately adjacent to the New Addington bound platform. Once again we know what to expect from the stop as modern tram stops tend to be fairly uniform, and the two platforms are either side of the tracks opposite to each other again.

It looks as if there has been a bit of a dumping of sand on the tracks here as we se 2541 departing on the way to New Addington. The bus station is to the left and the Croydon platform is on the other side.

2539 pauses at Addington Village with a service to New Addington. The fencing positioned to try and make sure people don’t just run out straight in front of trams is seen in the foreground along with some of the safety signage. A bus in the background is just arriving at the bus station too with shelters at that very bus station to the left of 2539. (Both Photographs by Gareth Prior, 21st April 2025)
