New LRSSB podcast released

The latest edition of the podcast created by the Light Rail Standards and Safety Board (LRSSB) is now out and this time the team are looking at the evolution of tram simulators and their contribution to light rail safety.

Carl Williams, Chief Executive of the LRSSB, is a leading expert in the technology and during the podcast he explains how the latest desktop systems deliver multiple benefits over larger full-sized cab simulators.

Ian Rowe also highlights how they’ve played a vital role in familiarising drivers with routes ahead of the opening of new lines, as well as being used for ongoing training and development by recreating potentially hazardous incidents in a safe environment.

During the podcast – recorded at Avansim’s headquarters in Milton Keynes, a firm who have designed and supplied simulator systems to networks across the world – there is also discussion about how the technology is also being used to recreate control room environments and its potential for enhancing safety for track workers.
