In Pictures: Supertram promotes Snooker World Championships

Advertising on tram networks comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes it’s a full vinyl wrap or small panels on the trams, and sometimes it involves tramstops. With the Snooker World Championships once again taking place at the Crucible in Sheffield (as it has done since 1977), Supertram have been publishing the event with large adverts on the stop at Sheffield Station/Sheffield Hallam University. Stuart Cooke took a look for us.

111 in its advert for Sumup departs from Sheffield Station on the way to Halfway. The shelter is covered in the ads for the snooker – although when it says Next Stop Snooker it doesn’t mean that as in this direction its going completely the wrong way!

A view of the wrapped shelter on the citybound platform. With many visitors to the city likely to be coming by train the adverts are a good promotional tool for the championships as well as the trams.

120 – and its inclusivity livery – calls at Sheffield Station with it about to depart for Halfway on the Blue route. (All Photographs by Stuart Cooke, 25th April 2025)
