“Picture in Time” remains on the Isle of Man but we go up to the summit of Snaefell for this edition.
Countless images of the summit terminus of the Snaefell Mountain Railway have probably been taken over the years and we feature another one in this image. On this occasion, a third of the passenger fleet was to be found adjacent to the Summit Hotel with 2 behind 6 as they wait for passengers and then a trip back down to Laxey with one stop on the way at Bungalow.
6 would be the first car to depart for the descent, something which it hasn’t actually done since 2017 when it was withdrawn for an overhaul. A new body has been built for the tram and its made good progress over the past couple of years in preparation for it to return to service. 2, also seen in this photo, remains operational.
