In Pictures: Edinburgh 264 gets a revised advert

Recently on Edinburgh Trams we haven’t see too many new advertisers on the CAF built vehicles, and that’s not because advertising is reducing. It is in fact because existing advertisers obviously consider it to be an excellent way to promote their products as they keep on renewing contracts which then sees revised adverts being applied to trams. And its that category that we report on again here as 264 has recently received some new vinyls for The Real Mary King’s Close – this time a full wrap.

264 has been advertising the tourist attraction since January 2024 but that first variation of the advert was the partial style we regularly see in Edinburgh of just two full height sections and the rest above the windows. But now we reach March 2025 and a new contract for The Real Mary King’s Close has seen a full wrap applied, except for the ends of the tram which remain in fleet livery. As with all full wraps it still has the arrangement of vinyls on the windows of the third and fifth section of the tram.

This is the eleventh different advert which 264 has carried:

Parabola Edinburgh Fringe Festival – July 2018-August 2019

American Express – September-December 2019

Edinburgh Trams Hogmanay – December 2019-January 2020

Johnnie Walker #jointhepact – January 2020-June 2022

Tennent’s Light – June-December 2022

Jollyes Pet Store – December 2022-January 2023

Royal Highland Show – May-June 2023

Edinburgh Napier University – June-September 2023

National Galleries of Scotland – September 2023-January 2024

The Real Mary King’s Close – January 2024-March 2025

The Real Mary King’s Close (full wrap) – March 2025-date

The full tram is seen in this view as it heads away from the camera on Princes Street and is about to turn onto South Saint Andrew Street on its way to Newhaven.

The front two sections of the advert are seen in this shot on Princes Street.

The centre of the tram with this part showing the full height sections.

And the rear two sections of the tram showing more of the advert. The Old Waverley Hotel is behind and South Saint David Street is on the left with Jenners wrapped in scaffolding. (All Photographs by Roy Calderwood, 8th March 2025)
