British Transport Police have launched an appeal for information after a tram conductor on the West Midlands Metro was assaulted. The assault happened on 20th July just before 2300 and saw the conductor repeatedly punched in the face as the tram was travelling between Brindleyplace and Five Ways.

A spokesman from BTP said: “British Transport Police are today issuing an image following an assault on a tram conductor. The incident happened shortly before 11pm on Saturday, July 20 when the conductor of a West Midlands Metro tram travelling along Broad Street between Brindley Place and Five Ways was repeatedly punched in the face. Officers believe the man in the image may have information that could help their investigation.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference number 884 of 20 July. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
Appalling. I hope the conductor is recovering ok, and the BTP catch the offender.
