Picture in Time: Stagecoach Supertram 124

Today is the final part of “Picture in Time” featuring the Stagecoach years of operation on the Supertram network in South Yorkshire.

And the tram we take a look at this time is 124 which is once again in the white based Stagecoach fleet livery and at the time of this image it still had the roller destination blinds. And a closer look at the blind shows that the tram is on the way to Meadowhall on the Purple route. At the time of this image the Purple route was extended from Cathedral to Meadowhall (via a reversal at Cathedral) at certain times during the day so those travelling between Herdings Park and Sheffield Station were able to get to the shopping complex without changing trams.

124 is the penultimate of the Siemens-Duewag built trams with it being delivered to Nunnery Square in early July 1994.

The photo was taken at Gleadless Townend.
