Edinburgh Trams nominated for more Scottish Transport Awards

There could be more cause for celebration for Edinburgh Trams later this year after they revealed they’ve been nominated for in more categories at the Scottish Transport Awards. These awards celebrate excellence in the Scottish transport industry and last year Edinburgh Trams were proud to have been named “Public Transport Operator of the Year” at the ceremony.

This year they’re up for the same award whilst have also received nominations for “Excellence in Travel Information and Marketing” and “Transport Team/Partnership of the Year”. The opening of the line to Newhaven and the record passenger numbers which have followed on from that have seen the nominations received for “Public Transport Operator of the Year” and “Transport Team/Partnership of the Year” whilst “Excellence in Travel Information and Marketing” is for the “Glide to the Airport” initiative.

Lea Harrison, Edinburgh Trams’ Managing Director, said: “Having scooped the top title in 2023, we’re delighted to be considered for the Public Transport Operator of the Year accolade for the second year running.

“It demonstrates how we’ve built on the successful launch of services to Newhaven and seen customer numbers double in the months since while helping communities in areas served by the new line unlock their potential.

“To be considered as potential winners in two further categories also reflects our commitment to providing world-class, environmentally friendly, and socially inclusive transport for both residents and visitors to the city.”

The awards take place on Thursday 20th June at the Glasgow Marriot Hotel.
