In Pictures: More new adverts in Manchester

Its time for yet another round-up of new adverts on Manchester Metrolink with several more trams having received new wraps over the past week or so. In this article we see the results of the application of vinyls on 3023, 3081, 3091 and 3102.

The advert on 3023 is not a new one as we’ve already reported on it but this is the first time that we have illustrated it. The tram is now advertising Maybelline with the pink based vinyls having been applied back in February 2024 – even including eyelashes around the headlights! This is the third different ad to be on 3023 (of which one of those was applied twice after it was incorrectly removed).

Onto the adverts we hadn’t previously reported on and 3081 has also received a bit of beauty treatment with its new contract. It features an ad for Delicia Drench Body Butter which is apparently “Intense Moisture. Uplifting scent.” and is available at Look Fantastic. There is a different design on each side of the tram.

The new advert on 3081 is its fourth and follows a period of its being back in full fleet livery. Its previous full ads have included IKEA (May-December 2019), Starling Bank (July-August 2022), #GetOnBoard (October-December 2022) and Hard Rock Café (July-October 2023).

And as we mention Starling Bank they also have two brand new adverts – the first they’ve taken out on the trams since 2022. As with last time they have gone with two trams (last time it was 3081 and 3092) with 3091 and 3102 the trams chosen – oddly last time there were 11 numbers between the two and it’s the same this time except you can add 10!

For 3091 this is advert number two with its previous advert being for Go North Wales (March 2020-February 2021) whilst 3102 is onto its third vinyl wrap (Welcome Back Manchester June 2021-December 2021 and Hard Rock Café July-November 2022 being the others).

3023 – Maybelline advert – at St Peter’s Square as part of a double unit running to Bury.

This is the advert on 3081 for Delicia Drench Body Butter. It too is at St Peter’s Square and is working a service to Victoria. (Photographs x2 by Geoff Hope, 12th March 2024)

The new Starling Bank advert is shown here on 3091 as it is the lead unit on a double heading to Rochdale, a service which continues to run via 1CC because of the track issues at Victoria. St Peter’s Square again. (Photograph by Michael Morton, 13th March 2024)
