In Pictures: New advert for 264 in Edinburgh

The new adverts in Edinburgh just keep on coming! The latest tram to have a change of external advertising is 264 which is now advertising National Galleries of Scotland, as seen at the very end of September.

The design of this advert is the standard Edinburgh type with just full height adverts containing contravision of two of the seven sections of the tram with the remainder just having adverts above the windows. Its publicising the new Scottish art gallery space which National Galleries of Scotland are about to open at the National on the Mound.

This advert is the fourth to have been carried by the tram in 2023 alone and sees a previous ad for Edinburgh Napier University removed which had only been put onto the tram back in June.

As well as being the fourth to have been seen on the tram this year, it is the ninth different advert to have carried since its very first for Parabola Edinburgh Fringe Festival between July 2018 and August 2019. Other ads have been for American Express, Edinburgh Trams Hogmanay, Johnnie Walker #jointhepact, Tennent’s Light, Jollyes Pet Store, Royal Highland Show and Edinburgh Napier University. This makes 264 the tram with the most different adverts since the first came in December 2016.

264 calls at Princes Street when heading for Newhaven showing off its new advert for National Galleries Scotland.

This part of the advert refers to the new gallery space being home to Landseer’s Monarch of the Glen.

The advert graduates in colour and this photo shows the lighter shaded end. The new Scottish gallery space at the National on the Mound has recently been completed after a long gestation and can be found just around the corner from where the photos were taken.
