The continued installation of the equipment to allow the Obstacle Detection Assistance System (ODAS) to be introduced on the Blackpool Tramway has seen Flexity2 013 become the latest tram to have the camera put in.
Six of the Flexity2 trams now have the cameras fitted – 001, 002, 003, 016 and 017 being the others – which allows ODAS to be used. As the name of this system suggests its aim is to help prevent collisions with the camera detecting any obstructions on the line ahead and when it does applying the service brake (and not the emergency brake).
