NET services finally resume to Hucknall

A full Nottingham Express Transit has resumed following the completion of repairs at Bulwell. Services had been suspended between Wilkinson Street and Hucknall (although alternative services were running from Wilkinson Street to Highbury Vale as part of the Phoenix Park service) from late afternoon on Monday 12th June.

It was around 1600 on Monday 12th June that Citadis 232 collided with an overhead support pole at Bulwell. On board witnesses have suggested that the tram derailed before striking the pole and at the time Nottingham Express Transit said that although there was bad weather in the area at the time this was not thought to be a catalyst for the incident.

Repairs did get underway almost immediately but with the damage being significant these have take a long time and for 10 days no trams were able to run on the affected section of track. No dedicated bus replacement services could also be run as NET could not find the resources for this so there was ticket acceptance on both local bus and rail services.

A full investigation is taking place into the incident, presumably including the RAIB although nothing has yet appeared on their website.
