In Pictures: Sunshine and trams end the May Half Term holidays at Beamish

Beamish in the sun what’s not to like? Obviously Beamish is a good day out whatever the weather but a little bit of warm sunshine adds that something extra to the experience and also often brings out the open top trams as everyone wants a ride on top. The last Saturday of the May Half Term school holidays saw the sun make an appearance along with a three tram service including Sunderland 16, Blackpool 31 and Newcastle 114. Trevor Hall also made an appearance on that day.

Newcastle 114 was running on the clockwise circuit and we see it here in the Town waiting to head off around the museum tramway. The tram retains its special “FIFTY YEARS OF SERVICE” boards.

One tram ran anti-clockwise and that was Sunderland 16 which although being fully enclosed adds some much needed capacity to the tramway.

The second open topper in the fleet, Blackpool 31, was also on the clockwise circuit. It looks pretty full on the top deck as it waits in the town. (All Photographs by Trevor Hall, 3rd June 2023)
