Special announcements on Metrolink for the Great Manchester Run

If you head out onto Metrolink over the next few days you may be hearing different voices on the announcements a series of special recordings have been made by Sir Mo Farah and Eilish McColgan ahead of the Great Manchester Run taking place on Sunday 21st May.

Sir Mo Farah, four-time Olympic champion, and Eilish McColgan, Commonwealth Games champion, will be making announcements remininding passengers to touch in and out if paying by contactless and making sure people are “getting on your marks, getting set, “mo!”.

The announcements are the latest celebrities to have lent their voices to Metrolink over the years. This has included Professor Brian Cox, Shaun Ryder, Sir Kenneth Branagh and probably the pinnacle Tony the Tiger!

Danny Vaughan, TfGM’s Head of Metrolink, said: “We’re really excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Great Manchester Run and we can’t wait to welcome people onto the network this weekend. We’re delighted to have Sir Mo Farah and Eilish McColgan making announcements on Metrolink, and I’m sure our passengers will enjoy hearing their voices in the lead-up to what is a brilliant event.”

It’s the 20th anniversary of the Great Manchester Run this year and it will be one of the last races of Sir Mo Farah’s career. Metrolink is an ideal way to get to the event with several stops at the start and finish of the race.
