Another Enhanced Weekend of operation in Blackpool May Day Bank Holiday weekend

Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours will be running another Enhanced Weekend over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. And if that wasn’t enough there is also due to be a Model Tram Exhibition at the Solaris Centre on the Saturday and Sunday of the weekend with a special heritage tramstop in place outside the venue.

This will be the second Enhanced Weekend of 2023 and will see the hop-on, hop-off timetable in operation again using six trams on each day of the long-weekend: Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th April and Monday 1st May. The timetable will be tweaked on the Saturday and Sunday to allow the majority of journeys to run all the way to Starr Gate, including one full length journey all the way from Starr Gate to Fleetwood early evening. This will mean that visitors can easily attend the Model Tramway Exhibition (organised by the Tramway and Light Rail Society) which is taking place at the Solaris Centre between 1000 and 1700 on the Saturday and from 1000-1600 on the Sunday. An additional heritage stop will be placed opposite the venue.

The more usual timetable will then be running on the Monday of the weekend and this will again feature the two heritage trams together at Fleetwood towards the end of the day as has become the norm over the past year or so.

As well as the usual daytime tours there will also be Evening Tours on Saturday 29th April (using the Frigate on a trip starting at North Pier and going to Little Bispham, then Starr Gate and back to North Pier) and Monday 1st May (with a Boat Car running North Pier-Little Bispham-Pleasure Beach-North Pier). Both of the evening tours will depart at 1900.

Standard pricing will be in place for the weekend which includes day passes (which includes travel on daytime heritage tours, modern tram services and Blackpool Transport buses) for £18 (adults) and £9 (children). Individual tour tickets can also be purchased.

Details of which trams will be running will be confirmed a few days before the weekend.

  1. Michael Green says:

In a change from normal, only 5 trams will be operating the hop-on hop off service.

Looking forward to alighting and boarding at Harrowside for the first time since 2009.

  2. Paul says:

It has been possible to get on & off a Heritage tram at Harrowside once before since the upgrade – Totally Transport 2014 (the last TT).
The final scheduled departure being on-loan 167…

  3. John W says:

Just to correct, the Tramway and Light railway Society have sponsored and members are supporting the event. They are NOT the organisers.
For the record we would like to thank BHTT for running their tours past us to allow everyone to enjoy the best of both events.
