Overhead problems on Metrolink

Services on some of the Manchester Metrolink have been disrupted on Wednesday 15th March following an overhead issues at Queens Road Depot. This meant that fewer trams than normal could leave the depot in the morning which of course means fewer services could run.

The Trafford Park line was most severely impacted with no service running at all until early afternoon whilst the East Didsbury to Rochdale line saw services halved and running at just 12 minute intervals (with the intermediate service cancelled) throughout the day.

Danny Vaughan, TfGM Head of Metrolink, said: “The overhead line issue this morning is impacting much of the network, with some delays or reduced frequencies and no trams currently on the Trafford Park line. We’re working with bus operators and other partners to help passengers make their journey as best as possible, and I’d encourage people to think about their journey this morning. If possible plan ahead, allow extra time and please bear with us while we work to get this issue fixed. We have engineers working on site and will continue to use our customer channels to provide latest updates.”

To cover for there being no trams to Trafford Park, Metrolink tickets were accepted on bus services 18, X50 and 250.
