Around the World in Trams: Geneva manual points change

There isn’t a tram to be seen in today’s “Around the World in Trams” (well a bit of one but that’s not the focus of our attention) as we return to Geneva one last time for this current batch of photos.

Sometimes not all tramway equipment works as it should which requires a little bit of manual intervention from tram crews or engineers. And that was the case on 26th April 2018 in Geneva when the points at the junction of the routes to CERN and Meyrin Graviere were not working. This meant that every tram had to come to a stop with the driver then having to use a manual points bar to change the points in the direction they wished to go.

In this shot we see a driver doing just that. The very front of his tram can just be seen on the extreme right of this photo.
