Out and About: Edinburgh Trams 260

We stay in Scotland for this week’s “Out and About” with the modern trams of the Edinburgh Trams system featured.

This photo shows 260 after arrival at West End when heading to St Andrew Square (the current city centre terminus of the network). 260 is one of two trams in the fleet to carry an advert for Spotify. The next stop of the tram will be Princes Street – on 22nd October the 100th anniversary of the conversion of the original tramway in Princes Street from cable to electric operation will be reached. In this view we also see Coates Crescent on the left and behind we see the tower of what was then St George’s Free Church (now Charlotte Chapel) which is 56m high and was added to the building in 1879-81 based on the design of St Giorgio Maggiore in Venice.
